Come create your very own pocket shrine with our Creation Studio Resident, Ana Garza Moore.
Participants aged 16 and up can create a pocket shrine with our Creation Studio Resident, Ana Garza Moore. Students will create their own shrine with small tins, using milagros, loteria cards, paint, rubber stamps, ink and other materials from Mexico to decorate their shrine. Materials are provided, but please bring a small photo, or other trinket to personalize your shrine.
Ana is a local artist whose work is inspired by her childhood and travels to Mexico. Ana collects found objects such as beads, shells, milagros, old jewelry, vintage cloth, photos, religious icons and anything creepy, spooky, or macabre. She uses small boxes collaged with other materials to create depth, mood, mystery and stories about life, creating small worlds in every piece.
Space for this program is limited and registration is required.
You can also see Ana at work in our Creation Studio, the following Saturdays in September 9/14/19, 9/21/19, and 9/28/19 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.
This Global Gathering Mexico program is supported by our Title Sponsor Terrostar Interactive Media, our Authorized Edition sponsor Morgan Stanley, and the Bettendorf Public Library Foundation.
