Join us for a Get Lit discussion of Palestine by Joe Sacco

In late 1991 and early 1992, Joe Sacco spent two months with Palestinians in the Occupied Territories, traveling and taking notes. Upon returning to the U.S., he started writing and drawing Palestine, which combined the techniques of eyewitness reportage with the medium of comic-book storytelling to explore this complex, emotionally weighty situation. Palestine has been favorably compared to Art Spiegelman's Pulitzer Prize-winning Maus for its ability to brilliantly navigate such socially and politically sensitive subject matter within the confines of the comic book medium. Sacco has often been called the first comic book journalist, and he is certainly the best.

Get Lit is a book discussion group for those adventurous souls who would like to read a little something different. A limited number of books are available at the Information Desk on a first come basis.

Get Lit meets outside the library at Adventurous Brewing in Bettendorf. Please note Adventurous Brewing is a 21 and older location.
