Seed Exchange

The Bettendorf Public Library is proud to offer free access to vegetable, herb, and flower seeds, all of which are open-pollinated and non-GMO. Located within the Creation Corner on the first floor, the Seed Exchange is open and accessible during library hours.

How the Seed Exchange Works:

  1. Borrow: Take up to 3 packets per month—no checkout required.
  2. Grow: Plant your seeds according to the directions on the packet.
  3. Return: If comfortable, harvest and donate seeds to the library at the end of the growing season to help build next year's collection. We accept both leftover purchased seeds as well as seeds you have saved yourself. Saved seeds should be labelled with the following information: Plant name, variety, and year saved.

peppers, a carrot, a tomatoe, a sunflower, chamomile, and a blue flower in a row
