Lady Bird (2017): R - 1 hour 33 minutes
This year our Summer Reading Program theme is “Find Your Voice.” As an exploration of that theme, we are presenting a film series that is focused on films that give voice to people from marginalized communities and communities that have been historically underrepresented in film.
Selected from the library’s Kanopy platform, we are screening one film every Friday starting at 1:30 pm during the Summer Reading Program June 5th – July 29th.
This week's film is Lady Bird.
Directed by Greta Gerwig and nominated for five Oscars, Lady Bird is a warm, affecting comedy about a high schooler (Saoirse Ronan) who must navigate a loving but turbulent relationship with her strong-willed mother (Laurie Metcalf) over the course of her eventful and poignant senior year of high school.
Golden Globe winner for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy and Best Performance by an Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy. Film Independent Spirit Award winner for Best Screenplay.
Note that films will feature a range of ratings from PG to R and may contain adult themes and content and are intended for an adult audience. Films may be subject to change.
Admission is free. Registration is not required.
