Explore the Emerald Isle via our Global Gathering Ireland film series. This week's selection is Brooklyn starring Academy Award Nominee Saoirse Ronan. Based on the 2009 book Brooklyn by Irish novelist Colm Tóibín, the film was nominated for 3 Academy Awards in 2016.
An Irish immigrant lands in 1950s Brooklyn, where she quickly falls into a romance with a local. When her past catches up with her, however, she must choose between two countries and the lives that exist within.
Brooklyn is rated PG-13 for a scene of sexuality and brief strong language. Registration is not required.
