Learn about the history of Camp McClellan, a former Union Army camp located in Davenport.

Founded in Davenport in August 1861, Camp McClellan was important during the American Civil War, serving as a training area for new recruits, a hospital for injured soldiers, and eventually a prison camp. The renowned Iowa 8th Infantry Regiment began their service here, participating in notable battles, including Shiloh, Corinth, and the siege of Vicksburg. Learn about Camp McClellan's stories and its lasting impact from the Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War-Robert Mitchell Camp No. 206 of Dubuque, Iowa.
